It's been busy.

To say it has been busy is a bit of an understatement. But finally, my last ever project at uni is all handed in and I can do a bit of a catch up.

Where to start...

Final Major Project

Setting up for hand in.

My bay ready for hand in.

In the midst of completing my project, I also stumbled upon some of the work that I sold last year at the Indigo trade show in Paris. This was a HUGE shock and I think that the comments I got from people over on my Facebook page overwhelmed me even more than seeing my work! It was lovely to get such positive feedback.

On the left, is the work that I sold and the two images on the right are the garment that has been put into production.

Another design of mine that I sold, now in production as a long sleeved top and a vest.

Take a look at their website: Sidecar

And, even better, one of my closest friends from uni then found the work that she had sold also in production!

Here's a link to her Facebook page: Ashley Wilson. She does THE MOST amazing drawings, take a look.

It was good news all round and I'm sure we managed to fit in a celebratory drink in somewhere. Even if it was just a cup of tea on a 15 min break!

This lead to us both having an article written about us in our local papers. Exciting!

Also, my course took our work to the New York trade show, Surtex in May where I have gained a few contacts that I need to follow up!

Eventually, on Thursday it was our degree show. Everyone's work is FANTASTIC!

Everyone's work really came together and made for a fab night.

I don't have everyone's but here are some of people's Facebook pages from the class:

So the future! At the end of month I'll be exhibiting at New Designers in London with other VERY talented designers from my course.

Then as soon as I get back, I have an internship at Trend Bible. I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am for this, I have wanted to work with them since I first discovered them 4 years ago! To be given the opportunity now is more than I could have wished for.

My fantastic business cards from Awesome Merchandise led to me receiving a lovely phone call last night from a design company in the North East so I will have to see what happens there.

Then fingers crossed, I may be jetting off for a 3 month placement in Europe, but I am still waiting for that to be confirmed. I then have the opportunity to go back to Trend Bible in October, then I am definitely taking what should be a well deserved break and going to Sri Lanka for 2 months over Christmas & New Year! So another busy year but I could not be more excited!

Bringing myself back down to Earth, I'm now going to have a cup of tea, some biscuits and catch up with New Girl!

Paper cuts

For my FMP I have been experimenting with paper cutting.
I have tried to create pieces that are very delicate to reflect the fragility of the paper itself.
The images aren't of a very good quality as I was just taking some quick pictures to document my development but I think sometimes, the shadows are more beautiful than the paper cut out.

Something to do with my Grandma's collection of crystal maybe?

What a fab way to take something old and update it!

My Grandma has a ridiculous collection of crystal and glassware which I'm not a fan of but this is a great idea for keeping something that is sentimental to someone but that you wouldn't necessarily want to keep yourself one day.

Delightful! Daniel Barreto

GIF images created by Daniel Baretto.
The miniature 'homes' are buried deep in the woods.
Imagine discovering these magical houses that belonged to fairies when you were little!

New thinking, new business card!

I've decided to start posting some of my things on the main blogroll instead of keeping it hidden away on a separate page. I'm hoping it will encourage me to do some good work if I have to show it off!
So, to the first post....

My snazzy new business card!
Kind of looks like I work in music...but it fits with my FMP theme :)

Shlos - Exquisite Cups

Inspired by the surrealist game, 'Exquisite Corpse'.
I think my favourites are the 'City' cups!

Rain - rAndom International & Dash 7

Last week, the Rain Room by rAndom International at the Barbican was all over the internet - a room where it is raining but cameras that are installed around the room sense human movements so the rain drops are directed away from the visitors. Dash 7 made a swing - but 2 years ago! Double fun!
