Paper cuts

For my FMP I have been experimenting with paper cutting.
I have tried to create pieces that are very delicate to reflect the fragility of the paper itself.
The images aren't of a very good quality as I was just taking some quick pictures to document my development but I think sometimes, the shadows are more beautiful than the paper cut out.

Something to do with my Grandma's collection of crystal maybe?

What a fab way to take something old and update it!

My Grandma has a ridiculous collection of crystal and glassware which I'm not a fan of but this is a great idea for keeping something that is sentimental to someone but that you wouldn't necessarily want to keep yourself one day.

Delightful! Daniel Barreto

GIF images created by Daniel Baretto.
The miniature 'homes' are buried deep in the woods.
Imagine discovering these magical houses that belonged to fairies when you were little!

New thinking, new business card!

I've decided to start posting some of my things on the main blogroll instead of keeping it hidden away on a separate page. I'm hoping it will encourage me to do some good work if I have to show it off!
So, to the first post....

My snazzy new business card!
Kind of looks like I work in music...but it fits with my FMP theme :)

Shlos - Exquisite Cups

Inspired by the surrealist game, 'Exquisite Corpse'.
I think my favourites are the 'City' cups!

Rain - rAndom International & Dash 7

Last week, the Rain Room by rAndom International at the Barbican was all over the internet - a room where it is raining but cameras that are installed around the room sense human movements so the rain drops are directed away from the visitors. Dash 7 made a swing - but 2 years ago! Double fun!

Colourful Pigeons

Recently I was in Venice & spotted a pigeon...only it had been dyed red! After further research...

Accents of colored pigeons permeate swarms of grey as part of the project 'some pigeons are more equal than others' by
Berlin-based artists julian charriere and julius von bismarck during the 2012 Venice Biennale. The duo have collaborated to dye the
birds in an effort to change people's perception of them being considered the 'rats of the sky'.
without harming the feathered critters, charriere and bismarck spray-painted them with a specially created booth,
Where they believe the creatures will become less offensive, and in turn, more accepted by those traveling the venetian piazzas.

One of my favourite illustrators - Daisy De Villeneuve
